It's time for The Main Event!

LADIES and gentlemen, are you ready for The Main Event?

A creative extravaganza of music, film, dance and live entertainment is promised at The Main Event - or TME as it's been dubbed - at Birmingham's Custard Factory on Saturday.

The free event, which runs between 11am and 5pm, is the brainchild of Birmingham musician Shimm 1.

"TME is designed to aid the growth of the region's next generation of creative and artistic individuals by encouraging them to get involved and make it happen," he says.

"I am excited about organising and being a part of the festival and envisage a large number of visitors from different backgrounds coming together to enjoy an eclectic day of artistic entertainment."

Each segment of the festival will offer different artistic themes, hosted by various personalities.

Artists on the bill include indie/rock bands The Ripps, Midas and Stars in DC, and hip-hop sounds from Taharka and Birmingham's Moorish Delta 7.

Shimm1 will perform songs from his forthcoming album Yea' Whatever, alongside the singles Stereo and Juicy, a collaboration with protégé General Kid.

There will also be a sneak preview of his version of Phil Collins' Both Sides Of The Story.

As well as music, feature films and videos will be shown and there's the offer of a free makeover by Shelley's UK Make-up School.
