'Tis the season to be jolly....!

AUTUMN is clearly the season for mirth-making.

The Birmingham Comedy Festival is back with a star-studded line-up that is guaranteed to blow the leaves right off the trees.

A stellar comedy gathering opens with TV favourite Jimmy Carr and closes - a day after the scheduled climax - with the equally talented Sean Hughes.

And in between, you have the likes of Mock The Week regular Andy Parsons, Markus Brig-stocke, Felix Dexter and Stewart Lee, co-writer of Jerry Springer the Opera.

And, in order to ensure that comedy tastes are not just met by providing stand-up, festival organisers are also offering theatre productions including John Godber's Teechers and Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party.

The 2007 comedy festival, supported by BRMB in association with the Birmingham Mail's sister publication What's On magazine, runs from October 5-14.
