Ned's Atomic Dustbin play to the world - from Wolverhampton!

THEY have been in the music industry for 20 years but Ned's Atomic Dustbin are enthusiastically embracing new technology.

Tonight's concert at Wolverhampton's Wulfrun Hall (0870 320 7000) will be the first from the venue to be beamed live around the world on the Internet.

"It's a big experiment - we're just putting our toe into the water because it seems like the way things will go in the future," says singer Jonn Penney.

"We're charging £3.50 to see the webcast but we don't even know if that's a realistic price."

The reasoning behind the move is that Ned's, formed in Stourbridge, play few gigs but there's a huge demand to see them.

"We have fans as far afield as Australia and America," says Jonn. "We know watching the show via the Internet is not the same as being at the venue but it's better than not being able to see Ned's live at all."

Details of how to log onto the webcast are on www.nedsatomicdustbin.com and www.wolvescivic.co.uk.

Tonight's show is a oneoff Christmas special featuring original members Jonn, Dan Worton and Alex Griffin alongside new boys Andy King and Martin Warlow.

"This year is our 20th anniversary and we wanted to mark it with a traditional Christmas show in Wolverhampton. Those gigs were always a highlight for us," says Jonn.
