Mark Ronson's coming to the Midlands

MAN of the moment Mark Ronson has announced he is coming to the Midlands in the wake of him picking up a coveted Brit Award.

The famed DJ and producer, who has won acclaim mixing songs with Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen, will star at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in May.

On beating off competition from favourite Mika to win best male, Ronson became the first person to win a Brit award despite not singing in the actual recording.

The 32-year-old star is currently on the rise with the Brit following a Grammy Award for producer of the year last month.

Jonn Penney, spokesman for Wolverhampton Civic Hall, said: "Ronson is very much the man of moment and he's coming to the Civic Hall on May 6. "Fans had better grab those tickets quickly though."

Ronson became a regular at downtown hip-hop spots and made his name as a DJ on the New York club scene in 1993.

He became one of the most respected DJs and was soon being called on for celebrity private parties.

Influenced by the hip-hop scene of New York and the more rock influence of the UK, Ronson's second album, Version covered tracks by Radiohead, The Zutons and Kaiser Chiefs.

The album gained him three top 10 hits and the Brit Award win.

While his producing has also not gone unnoticed, most notably working heavily on Amy Winehouse's successful Back To Black album, and tracks for stars from Lily Allen to Robbie Williams and Christina Aguilera.

Tickets are on sale from today and cost £23.50. For details call the Midland Box Office on 0870 320 7000 or online at www.wolvescivic.co.uk.
