Acoustic festival is on song

JETHRO Tull, Marillion and Peter Tork of The Monkees headline a Midland music festival next month.

The Acoustic Festival Of Britain takes place from May 24 till May 26 at Catton Hall Park, Walton On Trent, near Tamworth. Formerly a two day event held at Nantwich, it has now increased to three days with three stages, big top marquees and a craft market.

It will be Jethro Tull's only UK festival performance and they will be joined on the May 25 bill by Woodstock legend Melanie, Coventry singer Hazel O'Connor, Fairport Convention and Birmingham guitarist Gordon Giltrap.

On the opening day, May 24, the bill is headed by Marillion, with main supports from Glenn Tilbrook from Squeeze, Jah Wobble, Mike Peters of The Alarm and Marsden and Murray playing Whitesnake hits.

Closing the festival on May 26 will be Peter Tork, Donovan, Midge Ure, The Animals and Eric Faulkner from the Bay City Rollers.

Real ale tents and food marquees will provide refreshments and a craft market with all manner of goods from around the world will add to the festive atmosphere. There will be juggling workshops, face painters & henna artists to help entertain the kids.

Until April 30 tickets are priced £32 per day and £90 for the weekend. Phone 08444 771000 or see www.acoustic festival.co.uk.
