Red for go at the Rainbow

Birminghams TV talent show stars Scarlet Harlots have a homecoming gig.

BIRMINGHAM’S latest TV sensations, Scarlet Harlots, will play a homecoming gig at The Rainbow in Digbeth on Monday.

The band - 26-year-old frontman Sam Baylis from Northfield, guitarists Geoff Foulkes, aged 25, from Kings Norton, and 21-year-old Tom Gregory from Bournville, bassist Matt Campbell, aged 23, from Quinton, and 25-year-old drummer Jimmy Nayak from Kings Norton - narrowly missed winning T4’s Mobile Act Unsigned TV talent show.

The band, like last year’s winners and fellow Brummies, Envy and Other Sins, made the final via a wild card entry voted for by the public.

Sam says: “The response from the public has been overwhelming, especially from younger people in Birmingham, so this is our first chance since the final to say thank you to those who kept voting for us.

“We didn’t expect to get so far in the competition but we feel that we made a real connection with young music fans in our home city and beyond. I suppose that was evident on the TV show, which is why we are now talking with lots of different people from within the music industry. We’re all really into different stuff as a band, which is what I think gives us our own identity.’’

Ticket Info

Scarlet Harlots are supported on Monday by Wolverhampton’s Yelps, Northfield-based outfit Tantrums and Sculptors.

Doors open at 7pm and entry is £4 advance or £5 on the door.
