Wedding turns into family crisis

JOIN the wedding party at Birmingham Repertory Theatre with the arrival of the National Theatre production of Rafta Rafta.

Written by East is East author Ayub Khan-Din, the show takes us into the intrigues of an Indian family who are faced with an embarrassing problem after the wedding.

The parents may be celebrating but the groom proves less than willing to consummate the wedding - and as the time passes a family crisis ensues.

Bollywood actor Harish Patel, whose film credits include Run, Fat Boy, Run and who has also appeared on television in The Buddha of Suburbia and My Son the Fanatic, takes the role of the groom's father.

The show is directed by Nicholas Hytner whose work since becoming director of the National Theatre in 2003 has included The Alchemist, His Dark Materials and The History Boys which played Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
