Oklahoma! comes to Shirley

THE good folk of Shirley are in for a theatrical treat next week if they care to mosey along to the Shirley Centre, where resident theatre group Centre Stage will be performing the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma!

Oh What a Beautiful Mornin, The Surrey With the Fringe on Top and People Will Say Were in Love are just some of the highlights of the scintillating score.

Director Helen Bailey has pulled out all the stops to recreate the atmosphere of the wide-open spaces of the prairies on the stage.

"It is quite a challenge to bring a fresh approach to such an old favourite," she said. "But the cast and production team have combined to produce a colourful and energetic show which we are sure will entertain."

The show will run on February 22, 23 and 29 at 7.30pm and March 1 at 2.30 and 7.30pm. The evening performances on February 23 and March 1 are already sold out, but tickets are available for the Friday evening and Saturday matinee performances. Price £8/£7 concessions.

Tickets available from The Shirley Centre, or by contacting 0121 733 6783.
