WHAT a carry on! This often captivating play provides a fascinating insight in to the Carry On comedy film "industry" that produced 31 movies between 1958 and 1978.
Terry Johnson's play is set in the mobile dressing room of Sid James during the filming of Carry on Cleo, Camping, Dick and the final film Emmanuelle over a 14-year period.
Frequently funny, it is also occasionally poignant with womanising Sid's unrequited love for the much younger Barbara Windsor - long before her EastEnder days, Kenneth William's feelings of insecurity, and Imogen Hassall's desperate need to be famous.
Crescent Director Nick Owen is indebted to Craig Deeley for an outstanding portrayal of the unhappy Kenneth.
Performances end on March 29.
