Growing Old Disgracefully, Lichfield Garrick Studio

THESE two one-act plays take an affectionate look at ageing and relationships.

What's in a Name is set in an old folk's home for theatricals with Michael, a famous thespian, hating being reminded about his career by Tommy, and old song and dance man, hating his films which remind him he was once young and handsome, and hating being old.

Their cosy sniping is disturbed when a new resident, Yvette, arrives and turns out to be Michael's lost love, Juliet to his famous Romeo, suffering from Alzheimer's.

Amber, the second play, is about the obsessive Gerald and his sister Amber who has grown into a spinster.

Holidays are always in Suffolk, but that routine is broken when Bob, a widower from Nottingham, arrives with his metal detector. This excellent production runs at Stafford's Gatehouse from April 2.
