Doctor Dolittle, Birmingham Hippodrome

GIANT pink snails, lunar moths, twoheaded llamas - Doctor Dolittle is utter nonsense but it is also an utter delight.

At the centre is Tommy Steele, who may be well past pensionable age but can still caper round the stage with the best of them. You can't help but love him as he fends off evil fox hunters, rescues injured ducks and travels the world in search of science.

Surrounding him are a great supporting cast, particularly Abigail Jaye as a feisty Emma Fairfax and Halcro Johnston as the hideous Bellowes.

A family show in the best of traditions.

It runs until May 17.
