Play in a shop
A disused retail unit in the centre of West Bromwich is to be turned into a stage for a new show, The Corner Shop.
The site specific show aims to highlight the role of the corner shop in the local community – with its changing faces and frequent demise.
Created by Foursight Theatre and Black Country Touring in association with English Heritage, the show features research from local people who were asked to share memories, photos and documents all on the subject of their local corner shop.
Working with volunteers from the local community, the show features a promenade through the shop with performers behind the counters and exhibits on the shelves.
It takes place at Unit 16, Queen’s Square Shopping Centre in West Bromwich from Sept 26 to Oct 4. For tickets call 0121 533 7162.
