From Russia with Love

Firebird

BIRMINGHAM Royal Ballet create their very own From Russia With Love with a triple bill of works by composers from the country.

Igor Stravinksy’s The Firebird takes the audience to the world of fairy tales where a prince harnesses the magical powers of the firebird to rescue an imprisoned princess. Choreographed by Mikhail Fokine, The Firebird is one of the most popular short Russian ballets.

Kenneth MacMillan’s Concerto is set to music by Dimitri Shostakovich and sees dancers pushed to the limits of their technical skills.

And the company also perform Act III of Alexander Glazunov’s Raymonda in the Rudolph Nureyev version based on Marius Petipa’s choreography.
