Theatre Review: Cinderella at Solihull Arts Complex ****
MALCOLM Stent’s 19th year in residence at Solihull Arts Complex delivers exactly what it says on the tickets – music, dance and silliness.
Choreographed by Lorraine O’Leary, his latest version of Britain’s favourite panto is peppered with moments which warm the heart while tickling your ribs.
Kate Clarke takes the title role alongside Karen Heard (Fairy Godmother), Diana Chrisman (Dandini), Claire Trusson (Prince Charming) and regular Dave Sealey as Baron Hardup.
But it’s Oliver Hume (Wikipedia) and Andrew Cullum (Alopecia) who steal the beautifully-costumed show as the combative Ugly Sisters.
As ever, Malcolm (Buttons) engages the audience with a style so fine tuned it makes you feel like you are sitting in his own front room.
Until Jan 10.
